Dry Rot

Dry Rot is a form of fungal decay. It’s name often causes confusion as it needs moisture to grow and attack timber. Following an outbreak it can remain active in any timber more than 20% moisture content.

Dry Rot is often described as the cancer of buildings. Furthermore, it can arise from many sources the most common being damaged roof. Additionally defective gutters or even washing machine leaks.

Dry Rot loves hidden unventilated areas such as roofs, sub floors, behind skirting boards, under stairs cupboards and staircases.

Dry Rot does not isolate itself to just timbers. In addition, it can spread through plaster and masonry and can have a serious affect on the buildings structure if left untreated or treated incorrectly.

Dry Rot Treatment in Newcastle Upon Tyne and the Surrounding Areas

Dry Rot treatment can be very complex and should only be undertaken by experienced companies. Many builders and property development companies employ our specialist services to treat dry rot as we have many years of experience in this area.

It is crucial to identify the source of moisture and carry out the necessary internal or external repairs. Once this is done, we will treat the affected area by removing all affected timbers and plaster. Many companies fail to remove affected plaster, treat sub floor or make improvements to ventilation therefore putting your property at risk for a future outbreak to return.

It may also be necessary to carry out an inspection of your neighbour’s property as their property could be at risk and may also be the cause.

Allow our professional damp proofing and dry rot specialists operating in Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear and surrounding areas to help treat dry rot in your home today.

Identification of the problem is the first step towards the solution to fixing your dry rot.

Prompt administration for issuing the estimate. Gave advice and explained what was needed to be done. Once I confirmed that I wanted the work done they quickly gave a date to carry out the work. They completed the job promptly, no problems. Good clean up after the work had been completed. Very happy with the work done.
